‘Inspiration’

Helen Ward - © Artist Ward

Oil on Canvas 92 cm x 70 cm

In this painting the allegorical figure of opportunity/chance is resting on the globe he holds scales in the balance with a razor blade, a lock of hair obscures his eyes. On his ankles he has wings, but the monkey holds him down.

The monkey - represents the artist, he is painting

A dragonfly - represents my inspiration.

The figure - opportunity, the chance may be fleeting the wings may bare it away.

The Globe - his attribute - the world is waiting.

Lock of hair - the opportunity may be obscured not always be visible/obvious.

Scales - things are held in the balance and could go either way.

The razor blade - fragile/cutting - seize the moment.

Or for me this is -  get off your backside and paint!
